Tasting notes
The 2018 Zinfandel Marquis, a new bottling from Limerick Lane, comes from five different vineyards: Banfield (36%), Limerick Lane (23%), Sodini (18%), Bedrock (14%) and Carlisle (9%). Medium ruby-purple, it has alluring scents of crushed stone and pipe tobacco, tea leaves, dried violets and blood orange with plush, ripe raspberry fruit and apricot. The palate is minerally and still youthfully wound, with restrained, mineral-streaked fruits. Give it another 2-3 years in bottle.

The 2018 Zinfandel Marquis is seen as a flagship release and is a blend of the top single vineyards, with 270 cases produced. Quintessential Zinfandel notes of spiced red plums, sandalwood, orange blossom, spice, and tobacco all soar from the glass. It plays in the medium to full-bodied end of the spectrum, showing a stacked mid-palate, sweet tannins, and beautiful opulence paired with elegance. It's another magical Zinfandel from this team to enjoy over the coming 10-15 years.
The 2018 Zinfandel Marquis is a blend of five top vineyards: Banfield, Limerick Lane, Sodini, Bedrock and Carlisle. Given the quality of those sites, it's not surprising the Marquis is fabulous. Finessed and silky on the palate, with superb depth and energy, the Marquis is simply dazzling. Time in the glass brings out a range of spiced and floral notes that lift the dark fruit flavors nicely. This is such a gorgeous wine and easily one of the best wines I have ever tasted from Limerick Lane. (AG)
