Score 89/100 · Drink 2018-2022, Neal Martin, Jul 2018

Tasted on several occasions, the 2003 d'Issan has long been a commendable performer in a vintage that did not favour the southern Médoc. The nose is fully matured with black plum and raspberry preserve, the palate with better acidity than its peers with brown spices congregating on the rounded, easy-going finish. Maybe it has recently lost a bit of its luster but it still deserves consideration. Tasted at a private dinner in London.

Youthful-looking crimson – still quite purple! Just a mildly cooked note. A bit brutal but at least there are some decent ingredients in here. Still pretty brutal but nothing spoilt. (Average group score: 15.4) (JR)

Very deep crimson. Sweet, floral, easy, loose. Needs much more structure or acidity to validate it. Pleasant drink but not Margaux. (JR)
