Score 88/100 · Drink 2018-2030, Neal Martin, May 2018

The 2008 Prieuré-Lichine has a well-defined blackberry, raspberry, sandalwood and rose petal scented bouquet that offers a little more intensity than its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannin, well judged acidity, plenty of tobacco-tinged black fruit. The only problem is that is cuts away too quickly and leaves you wanting more. I wonder if this has already peaked? Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 10-Year On tasting.

Tasted blind. Blackish garnet. Sweet, gentle classic Margaux. A bit light on tannin but very fluid and charming. Not concentrated but pretty classy. (JR)

Very dark purple. Unusually soft texture. Very distinctive! Comforting and reassuring. Lots of work has gone into somehow making this taste velvety. Dry finish. (JR)
