1994 Château Lascombes

I remember how impressed I was when I tasted this wine at the chateau and at several subsequent tastings. Lamentably, all examples of the 1994 Lascombes tasted since bottling have exhibited an unusual musty wood character that initially made me think the wines were corked. The wine, which had exhibited fine potential from cask, seems disjointed, and, at least for now, plagued by unattractive non-fruit aromas that could be related to bad corks or badly cured barrels.
