The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is bold and explosive, with superb aromatic intensity and a real sense of gravitas that runs through the wine. Espresso, tobacco, cedar and menthol flesh out as this beautifully textured, sumptuous Cabernet opens up with time in the glass. Ample and full-bodied, the 2016 is a gorgeous expression of this striking hillside St. Helena site. (AG)
Composed of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon gives beautiful crushed red and black currants, blackberry compote and wild blueberries scents with touches of menthol, cigar box and fertile loam plus a waft of wild sage. Full-bodied and firm, with bags of savory and earthy layers, it's framed by a rock-solid structure, finishing very long. 580 cases produced, to be released in August 2019.
Another compelling wine, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is intensely savory and mineral-driven in style. The 10% Cabernet Franc comes through in the wine's distinctive aromatic profile. Deep, dense fruit powered by huge tannins continue to unfurl with time in the glass. Sage, mint, graphite and licorice lead into the expressive finish. I can't wait to taste the 2016 from bottle. Even at this early stage, it is absolutely gorgeous.
