Tasting notes
Lastly, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Los Potreros is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Star Lane and Grimm’s Bluff vineyards, aged 10 months in neutral oak. It has a similar spicy, cedary style as well as plenty of cassis and black raspberry fruit, notes of lead pencil, tobacco, candied violets, and orange blossom, medium to full body, rocking tannins, and a great finish. It too will evolve for 15-20 years.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Los Potreros is a bit more vibrant in feel than the Vogelzang but has all the telltale savory notes and dark fruit flavors that are so typical of Happy Canyon Cabernets. Bay leaf, licorice, mint and sage linger on the expressive finish. I would give the 2017 a year or two in bottle to help the tannins soften.
