Score 15.5/20 · Drink 2021-2027, Tamlyn Currin, jancisrobinson.com, Oct 2021

Full bottle 1,389 g. 54% Malbec, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot. 100% estate-grown fruit. Quite a cedary, purple-berried nose, the Cab Sav vying for leadership with the Malbec. Rich and resin-scented, cigar box and box leaf, mulberries and thick, soot-dusted tannins. Big and dramatic. Reasonable balance but no great finesse. (TC)

Rich, malbec-based red with lots of crushed-berry and chocolate aromas and flavors. Full body, chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. A big wine with verve! A blend of 54% malbec, 25% cabernet sauvignon, 16% petit verdot and 5% merlot. Drink or hold.

The 2017 Red Blend Dragon's Tooth, a Malbec-based blend, is bold, luscious and fruity - qualities that combine to give it tremendous near- and medium-term appeal. A rush of red cherry jam, raspberry, sweet spice and new leather punctuate this flashy, exuberant Napa Valley red. I would prefer to drink it over the next handful of years.
