Tasting notes
Coming all from the Sacrashe estate vineyard in Rutherford, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Exzellenze is another beautiful wine and has lots of savory currants, dried soil, baking chocolate, and lead pencil-like aromas and flavors. With medium to full body, ripe tannins, and a terrific seamlessness on the palate, drink it any time over the coming 20-25 years.

The 2016 Cabernet Exzellenz, from Hall's Sacrashe vineyard, captures all the beauty of this rugged hillside site in Rutherford. Sweet floral, licorice, mint and bright red fruit give the 2016 striking inner perfume to play off the naturally rich expression that seems to come so naturally here. The 2016 is beautifully done.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Exzellenz leaps from the glass with exuberant black cherry compote, blackberry pie and cassis notions with hints of preserved plums, spice cake, tobacco and bay leaves. Full-bodied with a solid foundation of firm, grainy tannins and oodles of freshness, it delivers a muscular mid-palate and long, savory finish.
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Exzellenze is one of the more unctuous, overt wines in this lineup. Dark cherry, chocolate, leather, menthol and torrefaction signatures flesh out in an ample, super-concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon long on intensity and power. There is no shortage of intensity, that much is obvious.
