Tasting notes
The 2020 Fixin Les Arvelets 1er Cru seems to have a little more stem addition than its peers. A touch of pepperiness compliments the dark berry fruit, with a hint of rhubarb in the background. It's complex despite a touch of reduction. The palate is medium-bodied with a patina of new oak to be subsumed. There's a marine influence, saline though not briny. It's forward and assertive towards the finish, hence my advice to afford this two or three years in bottle. This is a Gevrey with swagger, if not complexity. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Fixin 1er Cru Les Arvelets is beautiful, wafting from the glass with scents of wild berries, violets, spices and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with lively acids, powdery tannins and a long, perfumed finish, it was vinified with some 60% whole clusters.
Notably scented – of some Indian curry spice! Light tannins so that the acidity is more marked than the tannin in this case. Flattering and relatively evolved. Very polished. (JR)
