Score 92/100 · Drink 2016-2036, Robert Parker, Dec 2015

As for the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Ganymede Vineyard, this wine was aged 18 months in 100% new French oak. It shows crème de cassis fruit, floral notes, blackberry and black cherries. The wine is dark, rich, medium to full-bodied, ripe and pure. This is a beauty that needs 2-3 years of cellaring and should keep well for up to two decades.

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Ganymede Vineyard comes across a tightly wound, with less of the pure charm it showed from barrel. Still, there are plenty of Stags Leap signatures in the glass. Intensely perfumed and crystalline, the 2013 Ganymede is a striking Cabernet to drink over the next two decades or so. The finely-sculpted style is hugely appealing.

Winemaker Elizabeth Vianna called 2013 'a relaxed season and harvest'. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon picked 23-27 Sep. 32-38 day maceration. 18 months new French oak. To be bottled May 2015? Dark purple. Big, bold and sweet but with very marked tannins – not nearly ready to drink. Lots to integrate. A baby still. (JR)

A spine of firm, incisive tannins gives the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Ganymede Vineyard much of its energy, focus and drive. Graphite, pencil shavings, dark fruit and violets are all laced together in a rich, massively tannic Cabernet that stands out for the way it brings together purity with sheer size.
