Cliff Lede's soft, expansive 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon showcases the vintage's generous nature without showing any evidence of over-ripeness or dried fruit. Ripe cherries join dried spices, loamy earth, delicate floral notes and hints of cured meat on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is plush and welcoming, then finishes with fine-grained, softly dusty tannins. Drink this vintage while waiting for the 2021 to loosen up. (JC)

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon is a blend of three blocks, all picked on the same day. Ample and voluptuous, with superb balance, the 2022 is a big wine, but all its elements are nicely balanced. Dark red-toned fruit, cedar, spice, tobacco, incense and espresso build in the glass. The 2022 is a heady, racy wine that is quite big and opulent for the year. (AG)

One of the more subtle, balanced and medium-bodied wines made from this famous vineyard. Shows a bit of the chocolaty richness but more violets, black cherries, fresh blueberries and mocha in the finish. Great balance, subdued alcohol and very silky tannins. A pleasure to drink without tiring. Drink now or hold.

All Cabernet Sauvignon (clones 4, 7 and 337), Cliff Lede's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon avoids any excess ripeness, boasting elegant hints of crushed stone and pencil shavings against a backdrop of black cherries, cassis and dusty earth. Only medium to full-bodied, it's tart and silky—quite classic in style—finishing long and fine, with a dusting of fine-grained tannins.
