Pale straw. Very elegant with some real bottle-age interest on the nose. Masses of acidity but good mouthfilling fruit too – even if it is still relatively unformed at eight years old! Just a tad musty on the end but reasonably pungent and much more concentrated than the average Albariño. (JR)

The 2007 Selección de Añada is an Albariño that was created by fluke as they left a batch of wine in a vat for a long time and then realized the wine improved greatly. They now replicate that process and keep the wine in stainless steel vats for a minimum of 30 months and one more year in bottle before it's sold. It has a very young color, with some green tints and a nose of subtle smoke and yeasts, ripe yellow fruit and some flowers and spices, a really beautiful and Albariño nose. The palate reveals a very balanced wine with good acidity, more integrated, time in contact with the lees has mellowed it down and assembled all components, giving it a great sense of harmony, ending with a faint bitter finish. This is ready now, but should keep in bottle, as 2007 seems to be a very complete vintage. 16,000 bottles produced.

(aged for 34 months on its lees in stainless steel tanks and then held back for another three years before release!): Light gold. Potent, mineral-accented honeysuckle and citrus and orchard fruit aromas show remarkable freshness for the wine's age. Picked up a waxy nuance with air that strongly reminded me of a top-end dry Loire chenin blanc. Tightly wound, energetic lemon/lime and green apple flavors flesh out with air and show excellent depth, with zero excess fat. Finishes on a suave floral note, with lingering stoniness and a hint of bitter pear skin. The yields for this wine were reportedly between 12 and 15 hectoliters per hectare.
