This wine pours from the bottle with a gorgeous color that recalls a shiny ruby that has been hit by a sunbeam. The 2018 Teroldego Foradori opens to soft aromas of cherry, ripe blackberry and cassis. There is a lot of primary fruit packed in tight, and this is a typical characteristic of Trentino's Teroldego grape. The wine trends softly and lightly across the palate with medium weight and a relatively soft finish with some tart tannins on the close. This wine was not produced in 2017 because of hail damage.

The Foradori Teroldego always makes for a wonderful introduction to the brand. In fact, it was a vertical tasting of the Teroldego, a wine created in a fresh style from younger vines, yet still noble and age-worthy, that first won my heart - not the top-shelf Granato. The 2018 is no different. Here I’m finding a display of wild berry, fresh peppery herbs, violets, and crushed stone. It’s silky in texture, complemented by cool-toned red fruits and minerals, with just a hint of round tannin that provides grip. Inner florals resonate, while residual acids pinch at the taste buds. This is perfectly balanced, wonderfully pleasing today yet able to mature over the medium term in a cold cellar.
A light, pretty red with rose petals, citrus and tulips. Light-bodied. Citrusy and minerally yet spicy. Chill slightly like a rosé and enjoy now.
