Tasting notes
The 2021 Pian del Ciampolo is a wine of energy, tension and tightrope balance. It hits a wonderful intersection between ease of drinking and complexity. In other words, you could pair this wine with a simple wood-oven pizza, and it would certainly help to improve everything you taste on that pizza and take it all to the next level. This vintage is especially chiseled and fine. With 20,000 bottles made, the blend is 90% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo and 5% Colorino.

The 2021 Pian del Ciampolo is silky, elegant and gracious, all of which make it a fine choice for drinking now and over the next 10-15 years. Despite the warm vintage, the 2021 captures the finesse and elegance of Radda in spades. Time in the glass brings out the wine's natural richness. The 2021 will be very appealing to drink early, but it has the stuffing to age.
