The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan Vineyard has a deep garnet color. Liquid licorice and molten chocolate leap from the glass with a core of baked plums, chocolate-covered cherries, cumin seed, Sichuan pepper, smoked meats and blackcurrant cordial with a waft of violets. Full-bodied and laden with perfumed fruits, the palate has gorgeous freshness and loads of mineral accents, finishing very long and layered.

(15.4% alcohol): Healthy bright red. Superripe, deep aromas of black raspberry, game, black olive, chocolaty, sweet tobacco and truffle; reminds me of a top vintage from Chateau Lafleur. Wonderfully fine-grained, pliant and sweet, conveying terrific intensity and inner-mouth lift to its perfumed flavors of red fruits, spices and flowers. A compellingly glossy, deep wine with an unexpectedly filigree texture for such a fleshy Cabernet. Finishes with big, sweet tannins and a sexy decadent quality. This is still short of its peak.

(15.4% alcohol): Medium red-ruby. Musky aromas of roasted plum and caramel show distinct hints of evolution. Plush, fine-grained and silky on the palate, with powerful redcurrant and raspberry fruit framed by slightly spiky acidity. Very sappy, savory and intense wine with lovely pliancy but a firm spine of acidity and fine-grained tannins. Hints of caramel and nutty oak throughout, along with energetic blueberry fruit. Would be great with a lamb shank. Finishes savory and very long, with smooth tannins.
