(from a densely planted vineyard on a steep hillside near Black Sears) Bright, saturated ruby. Syrah-like aromas of black cherry, violet, gunflint, licorice and smoked meat. Dense and plush but with good peppery lift. Much brighter than the Napa Valley bottling. Finishes a bit youthfully tight, with substantial but very fine tannins.
