Tasting notes
The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain exhibits a dense purple color as well as beautiful blackberry fruit notes intermixed with cassis and spring flowers. Rich, unformed and grapy, it is loaded and, I suspect, just needs more time. These wines are more similar than dissimilar at this point even though they come from two totally different mountain regions. There is more tannin and minerality in the Howell Mountain cuvees and the Diamond Mountain offerings show sweeter, richer fruit and plusher mouthfeels. www.diamondterrace.com

About the producer

Diamond Creek, Napa’s first single-vineyard Cabernet estate, has defined terroir-driven winemaking since 1968. Founded by Al and Boots Brounstein, the winery pioneered site-specific Cabernet, producing age-worthy wines from Gravelly Meadow, Red Rock Terrace and Volcanic Hill.
