(I tasted this bottle in New Zealand at the end of January): Medium red with a hint of amber. Smoky aromas of raspberry, redcurrant and underbrush avoid the odd notes shown by some past vintages from this estate. Quite firm, savory and dry in the mouth if a bit ungiving. Showed a bit more fruit with air but this is ultimately rather hollow. Finishes with modest length. Seems to be going nowhere.

Medium to dark ruby-colored and exhibiting a profound, mouth-watering nose of red cherries, waxy blackberries, spices, and hints of cola, the 2002 Clos Vougeot Musigni is an exceptional effort. Armed with awesome power and concentration, this deep, satin-textured, medium to full-bodied beauty is crammed with wonderfully ripe dark fruits as well as a myriad of spices. Though intensely rich, this wine also reveals outstanding purity and freshness. In addition, its prolonged, fruit-filled, seamless finish displays sweet, supple tannin. Drink it over the next 10-14 years. Various American importers.
