The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, which had been racked the previous week, felt a little discombobulated on the nose, and the palate is showing a bit more of the wood than I think it will by the time of bottling. I’ll reserve judgment for now.

Mainly from Croix des Champs (east of the D974) not from the Brochon side, which tends to give more powerful and tannic wines. Fruit from an organic grower in this instance – but not the case for all the négoce wines. Needs another racking says Jeremy Seysses. Tank sample. Sweet and smoky reduction. Deep, rich fruit, generous. 14% but the alcohol is not obvious. (JH)
