Tasting notes
The 2017 Volnay Les Chevrets 1er Cru has an open-knit, well-defined bouquet of brambly red berry fruit and discreet wilted rose petal aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, quite grippy and a little drier than its peers, with a slightly bitter, granular finish. It meliorates in the glass and leaves a pleasant spicy aftertaste. Excellent. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting (NM).

An elegant, airy and cool nose is also attractively perfumed and is composed of essence of red cherry, lavender and soft spice aromas. The elegant, even lilting middle weight flavors evidence notably more minerality on the wonderfully textured, refined and well-balanced finale. This is a lovely Chevrets fashioned in a style that should permit reasonably early accessibility.
Pale garnet. Fresh redcurrants on the nose. Sweet start but well focused and a focus on freshness. Easy balance. Nothing in excess. (JR)
