Tasting notes
Ethereal and elegant, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a very interesting wine in that it does not show the underpinning power and determination that you see with most Brunellos in this vintage. This expression is far more feminine and graceful. Instead of power, the message here is streamlined elegance. The bouquet is held together with wild berry, spice and balsam herb aromas. The delivery is tight and focused. Like the Brunello Annata from 2011, this wine shows a beautiful mineral side with pencil shaving and crushed granite. This is a memorable Brunello.

Tasted blind. Dark ruby with orange tinges. A tiny bit stalky at first, then showing hints of cherry. Fragrant but slow to unfurl on the palate. The tannins are a little demanding at the moment but showing real breed and depth. A bit of a rough diamond. (WS)
Wonderful aromas of ripe fruit such as plums and grilled meat. Then it shows a fresh soil and sliced mushroom. It’s full body, with super silky tannins and beautiful fruit. Balanced and spicy on the finish. A beauty. Drink or hold.
