Tasting notes
Medium to deep ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir Cuvee Natalie Silver Belt leaps from the glass with decadent scents of choclate-covered cherries, mulberries, redcurrant jelly and black raspberries with suggestions of baking spices, star anise, dried Provence herbs, truffles and tilled soil plus a waft of fallen leaves. Medium to full-bodied, it completely coats the mouth with seductive black and red berry layers plus loads of spicy sparks. Framed by velvety tannins, it finishes with great length and depth.

Another standout, Kistler's 2015 Pinot Noir Silver Belt Cuvée Natalie is a potent, massively concentrated wine. The presence of Swan clone Pinot as a complement to the Calera clone gives the Cuvée Natalie a palpable sense of aromatic lift and a slightly redder profile than the Laguna Ridge. Rose petal, mint, lavender and raspberry jam are some of the many notes that build as this racy, voluptuous Pinot shows off its personality. Deep, pliant and super-expressive, the Cuvée Natalie appears to have a very bright future.
The 2015 Pinot Noir Silver Belt Cuvée Natalie is the most reticent and tightly wound of the three 2015 Kistler Pinots I tasted. Savory herbs, red-toned fruit, mint, orange peel and a touch of whole cluster savoriness give the 2015 a fine, sculpted feel that is hard to describe with words. Bright saline notes punctuate this vivid, exceptionally beautiful Pinot. For the first time the Cuvée Natalie has a touch of whole clusters.
About the producer

Kistler’s Chardonnays are some of the world’s most sought-after. This cult Californian producer crafts small volumes of exceptional, rich and generous, yet mineral and precise wines. With almost the entire production sold directly to their mailing list, the wines are also incredibly hard to find.
