Tasting notes
All Clone 685 from a Mondavi property in the Stags Leap District, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon WH Wappo Hill Vineyard is the third vintage of this wine. It's super dark in the glass and features slightly monolithic black cherries on the nose but is full-bodied, rich, expansive and sexy on the palate, with a long finish that adds attractive hints of licorice.

All Cabernet Sauvignon, mainly from a nearby Stags Leap District site, Wappo Hill's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon delivers scents of dark, earthy loam and ripe black cherries. It's full-bodied, plush and velvety, with no alcoholic warmth showing, but it does turn a little bit coarse on the finish, which seems to be a general characteristic of the vintage.
Coming from a single block in this Stag's Leap vineyard, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Wappo Hill Vineyard is deep ruby/plum-hued and reveals a lifted, perfumed nose of red plums, incense, darker chocolate, and graphite-driven aromatics. These carry to a medium to full-bodied, concentrated, textured, expressive 2022 that's perfect for drinking over the coming 10-15 years.
