Lovely aromas of black and purple fruit, tobacco leaf and sage. Full-bodied with fine, smooth tannins that are soaked in ripe, dark fruit. So much complexity and intensity here. Focused and structured, with a guiding note of black and red currant. Suede and coffee. Very long finish.

The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon bursts with finesse and precision, the 15-year-old wine is immaculate, fresh, vibrant and is in great shape. The wine is at an impeccable point of life right now with a juicy frame, where the heart of the wine has had sufficient enough time to come together and harmonize, becoming seamless in the glass. The 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon initially has the oak shining through on the nose with desiccated red and black fruit that makes me think of walking through a redwood forest as decomposing bark and fresh ferns emanate from the ground. The wine still has firm tannins on the palate, but the fruit condition is at the end of its life. Consume this over the next year, as this wine is coming to a close. Don’t miss the drinking window.

Bright, full medium ruby. Reticent but pure aromas of dark berries, bitter chocolate and graphite minerality. Densely packed, concentrated and serious, conveying a powerful impression of youthful grip to its savory dark fruit, floral and mineral flavors. Most impressive right now on the palate-staining finish, which features powerful yet harmonious tannins and a strong savory character. It will be a real treat to taste this wine next to the equally extraordinary 2010 a decade from now. Certainly these two cool growing seasons are huge successes for Quilceda Creek. (ST) 95+
