Score 17/20 · Drink 2008-2018, Jancis Robinson MW, Oct 2003

Recently released on to the market and a relative steal at £160 pounds a case in bond. Deep healthy crimson, very very dense palate. Compact, dense, intriguing nose – this wine actually smells purple, honest. Very taut. Lots of top quality oak as a corset. Absolutely no hurry to drink this – though it's certainly more approachable than the grand vin. (JR)
