Part of the Symingtons' current Library Release collection. Recorked and relabelled.  Deep garnet. Rich and spicy, ripe and floral. Roses, local esteva (gum rockrose), flowering from the glass along with black fruits. Sweet, ripe and generous. Choclolate and coffee on the palate. Smoothed but still grainy tannins. Warm, full and richer than I expected for the Warre's usually lighter style. Gentle rather than light. Not as persistent as the Graham's and Dow's 2003s tasted alongside. (JH)

Rather rich, sweet liquorice. Very hedonistic with a great balance of sweetness, acidity and tannin. As yet unfurled but impressive. Very successful. (JR)

Deep ruby. Brooding aromas of blackberry, black cherry, licorice and bitter chocolate. Broad, dense and deep, with compelling purity, lift and sweetness and captivating flavors of black cherry, dark chocolate and minerals. Finishes with broad, sweet tannins and superb chewiness and length. Has the structure and depth for extended cellaring.

Black pepper, sealing wax, spices, and toast are found in the nose of the potentially exceptional 2003 Warre Vintage Port. A concentrated, backward effort, its youthful, classically ungenerous, masculine character reveals black pepper laced dark fruits. Silky-textured in its immensely endowed mid-palate, this top-flight effort displays an admirably long, tannin-filled finish. It will require serious cellaring. Projected maturity: 2030-2050.
