Based on 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged 16 months in French oak barrels, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Passionnément is sourced from a handful of top vineyards including Beckstoffer To Kalon, Missouri Hopper, Morlet Estate in St. Helena, and Mon Chevalier in Knights Valley. It offers youthful Saint-Julien-like notes of black fruit, currants, smoke, tobacco, graphite, violets, flowers, leather, incense, and spice. Full-bodied and rich, it has ultra-fine tannins, no hard edges, and a seamless, layered, finesse-driven finish. It's another beautiful wine from Morlet that's drinking brilliantly today yet will cruise for 15+ years in cold cellars. Drink 2026-2041.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Passionnément, a selection of the best barrels in the cellar, captures the best of the Morlet style. Grilleds herbs, smoke, leather, tobacco, black cherry and plum all run through this potent, deeply structured Cabernet Sauvignon. I find it one of the most expressive wines in the range today. (AG)

Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Passionnement leaps from the glass with notes of licorice, chocolate mint, warm cassis, plum preserves, charcoal and smoked meats with touches of lilacs and cedar chest plus a waft of pencil lead. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a quiet intensity at first that grows exponentially in the mouth into an aria of epic proportions, revealing layer upon layer of savory/sweet flavors, bags of black fruits and tons of spicy sparks all within a firm, very finely grained frame, finishing very long and with compelling minerality. This is a staggeringly stunning and very singular Cabernet achievement by Luc Morlet—bravo! (LPB)

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Passionnément is dense, creamy and voluptuous, with the silky contours and all the raciness that is typical of Oakville. Succulent red cherry, chocolate, mocha, plum, incense and white chocolate infuse this vivid, densely packed Cabernet. Sadly, yields are down 33%.
