The 2007 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru is poured from magnum. It offers scintillating mineralité on the nose, though it bides its time opening in the glass, fleeting glimpses of praline and honeysuckle emerging with time. The palate feels rounded on the entry and exudes surprising richness for a 2007 white. Yet, there is clearly the acidity to keep everything on an even keel, whilst the finish is satisfying in length. Maybe in bottle this will be reaching its peak, though in larger format there is clearly many years ahead. Deeply impressive. Tasted at the 1243 Club in Beaune.

Manages to be both rich in terms of fruit concentration and very smoky/struck match on the nose. Lifted and lively with strong citrus flavours. At its peak, surely? A real treat. (JR)

The 2007 Perrieres has a much more exotic, generous bouquet than the 2008 with touches of honey, pear and vanilla-scented bouquet. The palate has a vibrant, lively entry – packed full of citric peel that pierces the Satsuma, fresh apricot and peach fruit. Still very youthful with wonderful balance and cohesion, it builds to a very precise, spicy finish with a long aftertaste. This is the first vintage in which I feel Pierre-Yves really captured the essence of Perrieres. Drink now-2020. Tasted December 2012.

All in new 335-litre barrels. Much more smoky but also a lovely creamy citrus. Very spicy on the palate. Great purity and length and that same minerality and directness underneath that characterises the Colin-Morey wines. (JH)
