Tasting notes
The 1993 Richebourg Grand Cru from François Gros, to my knowledge one of the last under the name, has a rustic, ferrous nose, one that is fully mature and perhaps a tad elegiac? Grainy tannin for the framework of this Richebourg, tobacco and brown spices infuse the red fruit. There is a touch of spice on the (again) ferrous finish that is displaying signs of drying a little, suggesting that this may have peaked five or six years ago. It is an old school Richebourg but one that remains pleasurable even if it is beginning to fray at the seams. Tasted at the La Paulée in Beaune.
