Based on 100% Cabernet Sauvignon brought up all in new barrels, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Calixtro Tench Vineyard offers absolutely riveting aromatics of bloody blue fruits, iron, black olive, and darker chocolate, with smoky tobacco nuances. It's full-bodied, powerful, and massively concentrated, with ripe tannins and no hard edges. This blockbuster yet focused, seamless, and seductive effort will drink beautifully over the coming two decades or more. Drink 2025-2045.

The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard The Calixtro is another fabulous wine from Russell Bevan. Inky dark red fruit, licorice, spice, cedar, incense and espresso stain the palate. Deep and vibrant, with soaring aromatics and striking depth, the Calixtro is captivating. Strong graphite and mineral/saline underpinnings are constant themes in this riveting, explosive Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon.

From a specific subsection of the vineyard that yields slightly higher acid levels, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard The Calixtro reprises the Tench signature of slightly herbal, Ribena-like, almost-too-pure fruit on the nose. In the mouth, it's full-bodied, rich and powerful, framed by dense but supple tannins and finishing both broad and long on the finish, saturating the palate with hedonistic flavor.

The deep purple-hued 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard The Calixtro offers a dense, more structured, serious profile in its cassis and darker berry fruits as well as espresso, graphite, spicy oak, and a Graves-like scorched earth note. It's incredibly concentrated, has full-bodied richness, awesome tannins, and a great, great finish. This is pure gold.
