The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru has an understated bouquet with wet limestone and Granny Smith apple, followed by bruised apple aromas. The palate is well-balanced with fine acidity, quite fresh with sour lemon and orange cordial. Fine weight, a dab of spice towards the finish. This represents a decent if rather unexciting Folatières that doesn't match its showing from barrel. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) is showing very well from bottle, unwinding in the glass with a youthfully reserved nose of citrus oil, bee pollen, freshly baked bread and crisp orchard fruit. Medium to full-bodied, taut and concentrated, with impressive depth and chalky extract for the vintage, this is one of the comparatively rare 2018 white Burgundies that is really built for the cellar, and it represents a tremendous success for Jadot.

The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru sports a subtle reduction on the nose, or at least it did at the moment when I tasted it from barrel, though there seems to be plenty of fruit concentration underneath it. The palate is quite rich and concentrated on the entry, showing touches of mint and orange zest; later, tangerine and grapefruit notes join the chorus line. The Clos de la Garrenne has a tad more complexity on the finish, but this is still very promising.
