The 2019 Chardonnay Ellen Lane Estate is shy at this early stage, opening slowly to golden apples, almonds, dried hay and latent spices. The palate is light-bodied with pleasant, tangy lift, and it finishes long on a mineral note. Give it another 2-3 years in bottle. 292 cases were made.

The 2019 Chardonnay Ellen Lane Estate is so impressive. The interplay of fruit richness and brighter, more saline notes is just compelling. Apricot, yellow flowers, mint and a touch of new French oak all come together in the glass. This is such a gorgeous, vivid wine.

Paul Hobbs is one of California wine’s biggest names. Twice named Wine Personality of the Year by Robert Parker, he joined Robert Mondavi in 1977, worked at Opus One and Simi before setting up his eponymous winery in 1991.
