Score 97/100 · Drink 1997-2047, Robert Parker, Oct 1997

Chapoutier's 1995 and 1996 Hermitage Vin de Paille (2,500 half-bottles were produced in each vintage) are extraordinary, nectar-like wines. They exhibit an orange marmalade, honeyed corn, super-sweet richness that is almost too intense to have with dessert. The 1996 possesses slightly better acidity; the 1995 is a heavier, fatter wine. These wines will last 50+ years.
