Score 92-94/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2010

Exotic aromas of dried fruits, clove, menthol and medicinal herbs. Thick and solid, but with powerful penetrating acidity that excites the taste buds. This impressively stony, tactile, intense wine is hard to scrape off the palate but is likely to need extended aging to harmonize.

Look at that price! Intense lemon colour. Honeysuckle nose that is very appealing, although I feel as though I have smelt something very similar on wines at a fraction of the price – not all of them from Burgundy. Masses of acidity and density. The fruit here seems to have overpowered Prieur’s odd oak notes. Just as well. Very embryonic. Long. A good try. Certainly not a failed wine though difficult to say it’s a great buy! (JR)
