Score 92/100 · Drink 1994-2010, Robert Parker, Jan 1997

The 1988 may prove to be one of Burgaud's longer-lived wines. For those with a more Bordeaux-oriented palate it is sure to have plenty of appeal. The yields were low in 1988, and this wine is splendidly concentrated, opaque in color (with only some light ruby at the edge), and tannic. I have upgraded my rating of this wine as it has developed in the bottle, displaying far greater richness and intensity than I had imagined. It has proven to be a superb Cote Rotie. Anticipated maturity: now-2010. Last tasted 1/94.
