Unlike many '99 Chablis that are frankly rather dilute in character, the '99 Raveneau Clos exudes plenty of classic Chablis character, indeed so much so that there is simply nothing else it could be. Steely, racy and elegant white fruit and green apple aromas lead to big, robust, palate staining flavors blessed with buckets of extract and a long, powerful, mineral-infused finish. The mid-palate is quite dense for the vintage and this will be capable of a relatively long life as the balance is perfect. A first rate effort for the vintage and it continued to improve for a solid hour after it was uncorked.
