Cask sample. Mid ruby. There’s quite a lot of body for a Charmes, it’s even quite chunky and not overly giving. There’s ample red-berry fruit, and the extra volume of a grand cru with a long, salty finish. (MH)
The 2023 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru offers a perfumed bouquet with violet-infused red berry fruit, crushed stone and rose petal. So much purity. The palate is well balanced with chiseled tannins, tensile and brimming with energy. It is not powerful, but you might call it an "athletic" Charmes-Chambertin with impressive transparency toward the finish. Superb.
