Tasting notes
The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a classy bouquet with slightly darker fruit, fine mineralité and impressive delineation. There is real "thrust" to these aromatics, though they remain quite primal. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannins that lend a more creamy texture. It feels just a little "worked" in the winery and as such loses some of the detail expressed by the nose, although there is decent substance and it should repay time in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Good density and life. Almost cassis flavours! Sweeter perhaps than ideal but this would not disappoint. Long. (JR)
The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a lively bouquet with quite expressive red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit laced with graphite and light pain d'épices aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, fresh and quite vibrant, a dash of white pepper with a tensile finish. This is very appealing and should age well in bottle.
