Tasting notes
This vineyard designate was previously bottled as "Keefer Ranch" but will henceforth be known as "KR Ranch," as the Dutton family took over management of the property in 2016. The 2016 Pinot Noir KR Ranch is pale to medium ruby with a savory nose of prosciutto, dried herbs, rose petal, cranberry, pomegranate, black cherry, bergamot and pepper touches. The palate is light to medium-bodied with a good core of black and red fruits segueing out to floral and spice notions, structured by juicy acidity and a soft frame of lightly chalky tannins and finishing spicy.

The 2016 Pinot Noir KR Ranch is very pretty and understated. Sweet red cherry, rose petal, lavender and mint all grace this subtle, nuanced Pinot, while silky tannins add structure. The KR Ranch is all from Keefer Ranch, where most winemakers have chosen to make riper, more obvious Pinots in the past.
