The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Sunshine Valley Vineyard comes from the Oak Knoll District located on the southern end of the valley. This AVA’s proximity to the San Pablo Bay causes it to have a cooler climate than any other Napa Valley region other than Los Carneros. The 2014 offers a perfumed, nuanced, elegant style to go with notions of underbrush, blackberries, dried herbs, cedar wood, and potpourri. Medium to full-bodied, nuanced and elegant, with present, yet sweet tannin, it’s already impossible to resist, yet this undeniably sumptuous beauty should keep through 2034. Along with consultant Michel Rolland, winemaker Jean Hoefliger has produced an incredible number of killer wines in 2014 and 2015. If you’re interested in learning about all the various sites throughout the Valley, this is a good place to start.

Coming from perhaps their most southern vineyard for Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Sunshine Valley Vineyard from Oak Knoll displays a dense ruby/purple color, some mulberry, cranberry and black cherry fruit, a solid core of intensity, moderate tannin, and a medium to full-bodied finish. This is another 15- to 20-year wine.

Super-ripe black cherry, crème de cassis, leather, earthiness, smoke, spice and licorice meld together in the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Sunshine Vineyard. Bold, succulent and racy to the core, the 2014 exudes richness to match its flashy, upfront personality. This is one of the more overt wines in the range. All the elements fall into place in this striking, effortless Cabernet Sauvignon.
