The 2007 Vecina is the first wine in the flight that is somewhere close to being ready to drink. Sumptuous and racy, with soft contours and tons of flesh, the 2007 is irresistible. Even with all of its opulence, the 2007 captures the essential power and structure of this great Oakville site.

Saturated dark ruby. Deep, brooding aromas of blackberry, cassis and spices. Rich, plush and very deep, showing considerably more pliancy and incipient sweetness than the 2008 through 2011 vintages of this bottling. In fact, the dark berry and kirsch flavors are downright plush and full-blown by comparison, even if this wine retains an inky quality to its sweetness. Wonderfully broad and long on the finish, with the substantial tannins fully ripe and integrated and a strong chocolate quality giving it considerable appeal today. Perhaps the wine's seeming accessibility at age ten is just a deception.
