Drink 0-0, David Schildknecht, Vinous

A blend principally of chardonnay and scheurebe, but also showing some muscat and traminer influence, Kracher's latest and only recently bottled cuvee offers a deliciously butter-cream and pastry character with quince and rose petal filling. The relatively high acidity of the vintage displays itself only in subtle citricity and in the sense of lift and delicacy exhibited on the palate. Texturally sophisticated if understated in flavor, this wine offers terrific elegance and length which will shine forth provided it is not asked to stand up to a concentrated, sweet dessert. Potential 2 stars.
