The 1989 Le Petit Cheval was the second vintage released. It has a lovely bouquet of tobacco and melted asphalt entwined with earthy red fruit that I initially mistook for the Grand Vin. The medium-bodied palate is uncomplicated, rather rustic and a touch dilute, with light tannin and black truffle, yet certainly still offering pleasure after 30 years. Tasted from an ex-cellar bottle at the château .
