Score 17.5/20 · Drink 2029-2044, Jancis Robinson MW, Apr 2025

100% Cabernet Sauvignon from SLV harvested between 17 September and 8 October. Matured 21 months in 100% new French oak.  Deep purple. Dark and rich with cocoa nib and blackcurrant. Powdery, fine tannin with fresh acidity and rich black fruit. The finish is very firm and tight. Far more ageability than the Fay. Just a slight lovely ripeness to the finish with a bit of graphite. Excellent balance. (SCJ)

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon S.L.V. is upfront and perfumed yet still plays in the more inward, structured style of the vintage. Red and black currants, spicy oak, graphite, and smoked tobacco are just some of its nuances, and this remarkable effort is full-bodied on the palate, with ripe, velvety tannins, a great mid-palate, and fabulous length on the finish.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon S.L.V. comes across as darker-fruited than the Fay, more concentrated and tannic. Hints of pencil shavings and dark chocolate accent black cherries and cassis on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is rich and velvety, finishing long.

A firm but refined, elegant wine that shows great balance, tension and a wonderful bouquet of floral, savory and black-fruited flavors. Creme de cassis, dried cherry, cigar box, bay leaf and black olive notes fill the aromas and flavors, while snug, fine-grained tannins light up the texture. Full-bodied. It\'s a vintage worth aging. Drinkable now, but best from 2029.
