A library selection, the 2015 Pinot Noir Mineral Springs Ranch has layered aromas of blackberry, mushroom, tobacco, mint and damp earth. The full-bodied palate maintains a sapid core of ripe fruit. It’s framed by chalky tannins and juicy acidity and has a long, ripe finish. It’s maturing well but showing some of the warmth of the season.

White label. Certified Salmon Safe and LIVE-certified sustainable. Certified organic by CCOF and biodynamic by Demeter. The nose on this is quiet but ripe and dark, with black cherry instead of red. The palate is spicy and broad with concentrated fruit flavours and more body than the 2017, 2012 or 2008. Incredibly youthful with plush, velvety, smooth tannins and fresh acidity. Textural and layered, with an evolving finish. A benchmark wine. (SCJ)

The 2015 Pinot Noir Mineral Springs Ranch is pale to medium ruby-purple with a nose of black berries and cherries with crushed rock, cardamom and forest floor nuances. Light to medium-bodied with a strong vein of rocky minerality and dried black tea leaf notes, it has very juicy, mouthwatering acidity and a strong frame of grainy tannins, finishing long with bitters/amaro accents. Brilliant red. A heady, seductively perfumed bouquet of fresh red and blue fruits, potpourri, spicecake and vanilla carries an intense mineral overtone. Concentrated yet vibrant in style, showing superb clarity and lift to the sweet raspberry, boysenberry, cola, spicecake and floral pastille flavors. Becomes nervier and spicier on the gently tannic finish, which hangs on with outstanding focus and tenacity. (JR)
