An attractive bouquet of plums, cassis and earthy forest floor introduces the 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny wine, with melting tannins, tangy acids and good concentration, concluding with a long finish. Elegant and pure, it exemplifies Fourrier's style.

Not that much concentration but no faults. Correct but perhaps by this time in the evolution of the Fourrier reputation it is not the greatest bargain. Sour fruit on the end. (JR)
A third of production. 3 ha, north of village, bottom of Champerrier plus a bit from Combe du Bas, planted in 1928. 10,000 vines/ha and yields of about 28 hl/ha. This came from his father, and it's a complete coincidence that it was planted in the same year as Aux Échezeaux from his mother. Mix of 12 parcels. Tank sample. Served just a little warm. Diffuse nose with lots of exuberant fruit. Hint of something medicinal. Very Gevrey flavours but with more lift and freshness. Really very good indeed! Forward. (JR)

Domaine Fourrier is located in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. The estate has been run by Jean-Marie Fourrier since 1994, and has rapidly become one of the village’s most fashionable names, known for producing pure and transparent Pinot Noir.
