Tasting notes
The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes comes from several parcels around the appellation. I admire the bouquet here, very pretty with perfumed red cherries, crushed strawberry and subtle rose petal scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. This is supple in the mouth with good acidity, upfront fleshy red cherry and strawberry fruit with a pinch of white pepper completing the finish. Recommended.

North of village, bottom of Champerrier plus a bit from Combe du Bas, planted in 1928. 10,000 vines/ha and yields of about 28 hl/ha. This came from his father, and it's a complete coincidence that it was planted same year as Aux Échezeaux from his mother. Just racked into tank prior to tasting. Rich and svelte. Real difference of texture. Pacy and fully satisfying, spread across the palate. Super-clean and fresh. (JR)
(from the north side of the village; the Aux Echézeaux is from the extreme south side): Bright medium red. Red fruits, animal fur and game lifted by a floral element on the nose. Plush and seamless; a step up in thickness and suavity from the Aux Echézeaux, with its deep raspberry fruit complicated by a mineral component. Mouthfilling but not heavy, finishing quite long, with tannins totally supported by fruit.
(from Les Champs Perriers in Brochon). Here the more reserved nose is compositionally similar to the Aux Echézeaux but it’s spicier. The succulent and fleshy medium-bodied flavors possess good mid-palate richness which contrasts markedly with the firm, serious and robust finale that displays a touch of rusticity. This recommended effort is also very good and very Gevrey. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
