Tasting notes
Full bottle 1,380 g. A rarity from the slope recuperated with great enthusiasm by Jean-Louis Chave. See here . Looks quite mature and tasted charmingly sweet. Very pretty label! A definite success but not made or sold in any quantity. (JR)

Lurid violet. A deeply perfumed, highly complex bouquet evokes ripe cherry and boysenberry, along with complicating notes of potpourri, incense, allspice and smoky bacon. Sappy and extremely expressive on the palate, offering intense, smoke-tinged black and blue fruit liqueur and floral pastille flavors that are energized by an undertone of juicy acidity. Displays superb delineation and mineral lift on a youthfully tannic, floral-dominated finish that hangs on with outstanding tenacity.
Bottled just one month ago, I suspect my score for the 2015 Saint Joseph Le Clos Florentin may seem conservative after some additional time in bottle. Hints of graham crackers frame ripe cassis fruit in this rich, full-bodied wine that retains a strong sense of balance and elegance despite its powerful nature.
