Tasting notes
More reserved than the communal bottling that preceded it, Barthod's 2019 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Aux Combottes unwinds in the glass to reveal aromas of sweet red berries, pomegranate, exotic spices and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, lively and seamless, its powdery tannins are largely concealed by an ample core of fruit.

The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Aux Combottes 1er Cru is more expressive and more floral on the nose compared to the Les Charmes, offering scents of pressed iris mixed with crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with a saline entry, good grip and a lovely briny note toward the finish. This will be fascinating to observe as it ages in bottle.
