The 1994 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a fitting wine to round out the first day of this very special retrospective featuring wines back to the inaugural 1977. Powerful and explosive to the core, the 1994 is seriously beautiful. Strong savory and floral notes lend striking inner perfume to a Riserva endowed with tremendous depth and overall intensity. Magnificent.

A wine that continues to impress, the 1994 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is bright, floral and lifted, with finely sculpted tannins that add to an impression of finesse. I have tasted the 1994 many times, but it has never been this refined. Today, the 1994 Riserva is absolutely exquisite, not to mention one of the highlights of this group of wines from the 1990s. In a word: superb.
Another surprise, the 1994 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is off the charts. On this night the 1994 is more refined and layered than the 1993, with notable depth and tons of pure explosive power. A host of dark cherry, plum, spice, tobacco and leather infuse the finish. What a wine!

About the producer
Soldera is one of the most highly rated, fiercely collected wines of Italy. The winery is based in the Brunello di Montalcino, however the estate is no longer labelled as a Brunello, following a fall out with the consortium. Made from 100% Sangiovese, the wine is currently bottled as a Toscana IGT.
